Course level: Undergraduate

This course is designed to build a general overview of how to work with people. A correlation between life, family, goals, and losses is folded into the concept of working with people. This course explores the understanding of people from a high level overview, to a foundational level of how them can they be helped. Key factors are unlocked including, race, gender, social class, religious contexts and ability to achieve. The role and structure of families is explored. Emphasis is placed on how to connect people in need to services available. Students will also have an opportunity to reflect on their own biases and develop methods to avoid bias while working with people in need.

  • Examine strategies one can use to create change and opportunities in life.
  • Develop a life plan that supports success.
  • Define opportunity and discuss how to capitalize on opportunity.
