Course level: Upper Division

This course will familiarize students with developmental milestones, social influences, the process of identity formation, and moral and ethical development. Students will explore unique challenges faced by adolescents.

  • Evaluate the emotional, temperament, attachment, and developmental issues in children and adolescents.
  • Evaluate the processes of the development of self and identity formation.

  • Determine the physical and developmental changes during puberty and their effects on juvenile delinquency.
  • Discuss the theories and development of communication skills in adolescents.
  • Evaluate the impact of peer pressure, school drop outs, and substance use in relation to adolescent delinquency.
